Assorted Mushroom Corals are colorful, hardy corals that bring unique textures and vibrant pops of color to any marine aquarium. These adaptable corals, from genera such as Discosoma, Rhodactis, and Ricordea, thrive in a range of lighting and flow conditions, making them ideally suited to the Living Ecosystem Aquarium. Their soft, fleshy bodies and wavy shapes provide a natural aesthetic, with colors that may include shades of red, green, blue, purple, and orange.
Supplemental feeding with small pellets, fine coral foods, or microplankton can encourage faster growth and intensify colors. Mushroom Corals are also one of the easiest corals to frag, making them perfect for beginners interested in coral propagation. Their resilience, adaptability, and occasional color shifts under different lighting conditions add dynamic variety to any marine setup.

Reproduction:
Mushroom Corals have fascinating reproductive behaviors that allow them to quickly cover rock surfaces in a marine aquarium. As they move across a surface, they can leave tiny polyps behind that grow into full mushrooms, forming a “trail” of corals. They can also reproduce through splitting, where a single mushroom buds into two or three new corals. These unique reproductive traits make them ideal for naturally filling out reef areas in the Living Ecosystem Aquarium.
