The Interstellar Discosoma Corallimorph (Discosoma sp.) is a premium morph of the soft-bodied Discosoma group, celebrated in the aquarium hobby for its vivid markings and unique colouration. Like all corallimorphs, Interstellar specimens fall somewhere between anemones and soft corals — exhibiting disc-shaped polyps that are both fleshy and responsive, with excellent adaptability to reef aquarium environments.

This high-end variation is defined by its distinctive pink spotting — small, vivid dots that contrast against a darker or metallic base. Each polyp typically measures 20–50 mm in diameter, forming a slightly domed disc with soft radial texture and a smooth, elastic surface. Depending on lighting and angle, the base colour may display hues of purple, blue, grey, or even subtle green, often with a reflective or metallic finish that gives the coral a glowing, “interstellar” appearance.

Interstellar Discosomas are well suited to low-light reef zones and thrive in low to moderate flow, making them ideal for shaded crevices, reef floors, and encrusting the base of Living Blocks. Their hardy nature and striking visual impact make them a favourite for both beginner aquarists and collector-grade reef displays.

Morphs
Corallimorphs (Order Corallimorpharia) are soft-bodied, anemone-like and coral-like marine invertebrates known for their hardiness and diverse colour forms, making them highly popular in reef aquariums.

Reproduction
Like other Discosoma morphs, the Interstellar reproduces asexually through fission and pedal laceration. Colonies may remain stable for extended periods before entering episodic growth phases, during which polyps divide and spread rapidly across nearby substrate. This behaviour supports the development of visually cohesive colonies that slowly cover reef surfaces with glowing, polyp-rich colour.

The Interstellar Discosoma is a perfect blend of form and function — easy to care for, yet visually bold — making it an exceptional feature in any Living Ecosystem Aquarium
