The Abrolhos Islands Clownfish is a Western Australian endemic and a bold addition to any reef aquarium. Sustainably aquacultured, this striking Amphiprion clarkii displays a vivid orange body, a crisp white facial band, and a dark saddle marking that deepens with maturity. Its colours and assertive presence reflect the powerful currents and remote reef walls of the Abrolhos Islands where this species evolved.

Like all clownfish, the Abrolhos Clarkii forms a stable family unit with a dominant female, a breeding male, and juvenile subordinates. If the female is lost, the male transitions to take her place, with the next juvenile rising through the ranks β€” a fascinating dynamic that adds depth and life to any reef setup.

While they naturally pair with large anemones in the wild, Abrolhos Clarkiis readily adapt to coral crevices and rock structures. In the Living Ecosystems Aquarium, the Living Blocks Reef provides ideal height, cover, and current flow, allowing this active species to claim space and exhibit natural behaviour.

Reproduction:
The Abrolhos Clarkii is a prolific egg-layer, with clutches of 300–500 eggs laid on a flat or vertical surface near their shelter. The female lays the eggs, and the male guards and fans them to maintain oxygenation and protect against predators. Eggs typically hatch after 6–8 days, with fry dispersing into the water column before settling
