Polyps typically range from 40–80 mm in diameter, with a domed, cushion-like form. The surface is covered in short, rounded lobes or vesicles, giving the coral a bumpy, padded look that moves gently in current. Colouration varies across specimens and may include tones of green, brown, grey, blue, or purple — often with subtle fluorescent or metallic overtones depending on lighting and water quality.

The Fluffy Rhodactis thrives in low to moderate light and gentle water flow, making it ideal for lower tank zones, reef ledges, or shaded platforms. Its fleshy base anchors securely to rock and encrusting surfaces, helping to stabilise reef formations while offering texture and movement within the aquascape.

Morphs

Corallimorphs (Order Corallimorpharia) are soft-bodied, anemone-like and coral-like marine invertebrates known for their hardiness and diverse colour forms, making them highly popular in reef aquariums.

Reproduction

Like other morphs, the Fluffy Rhodactis reproduces asexually via fission and pedal laceration. A single polyp may remain undisturbed for long periods before entering a phase of episodic colony growth, producing multiple daughter polyps over a short timeframe. This natural expansion results in attractive, clustered colonies that spread gradually across rock surfaces.
