New Living Oceans Aquarium Care Checklist

Congratulations on your new Living Oceans Aquarium! 

Now that you've had your aquarium installed and completed the online training and onsite install, you have taken in a lot of information.

Here’s a quick checklist of key tasks to focus on during your aquarium’s first month.

First Month Care

1. Daily check 

Get into a routine of doing daily checks of your aquarium. Daily observation is critical during the early stages. 

1.1 The auto feeder is dispensing food (see point 3 for more details).

1.2 The fish are feeding.

1.3 Corals are stretching towards the light during the day, retracting at night. Individual corals may also retract during the day for periods up to a week.

1.4 Keep an eye on your corals for any signs of stress or decline and remove any dead livestock immediately.

Note - The clownfish will establish a social hierarchy which may include aggression and bullying.

2. Managing Algae & Cleaning

2.1 Expect increased algae growth in the first month as the ecosystem settles. It will grow fast, but it is easy to clean.

2.2 Clean the glass up to twice a week using the magnetic cleaner.

2.3 Clean the sand up to twice a week using the handle of the scraper.

2.4 Wipe the rocks with a clean, soft cloth as required.

Remember – Do not use any chemicals in or around the aquarium.

3. Feeding & Auto Feeder Maintenance

3.1 The auto feeder has the feeding slot set to 3mm width, dispensing 0.5g of food per rotation. It is scheduled to feed at 12:00 PM daily.

3.2 Swap auto feeder food every 3-4 weeks to keep it fresh.

3.3 Trigger the auto feeder manually once per week to observe fish behaviour and give them a bit of extra food.

Note: The fish will be sufficiently fed just with the auto feeder without triggering it manually. 

4. Lighting Schedule

4.1 The default lighting schedule is:

      • Moonlight - Dawn: 8:00 – 11:00 AM
      • Daylight: 11:00 – 7:00 PM 
      • Moonlight - Dusk: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM 

4.2 This schedule may be adjusted to suit your personal preferences - refer to our LED Light Guide here 

4.3 You can also control the lighting using voice commands:

      • "Hey Lena, change colour"
      • "Hey Lena, turn the light on"

Remember - Always say "Return to schedule" after making voice command changes (as per the manual).

5. Water Top-Up (ATO System)

5.1 Your Auto Top Off (ATO) reservoir has been filled with 10L-15L of water, which should last about one month.

5.2 Top up ATO using a clean water vessel or refill at the tap when needed.

5.3 The ATO water level sensor in the aquarium pump chamber glows green when operating, flashes green when pumping, and flashes red if there is a malfunction.

Note: If the water level sensor is red, check the reservoir water levels and pump, then reset by turning the power off and on.

6. Variable Flow Return Pump

6.1 The return pump is a silent, variable flow controllable DC pump. It includes a digital pump controller located under the power board in the cabinet.

6.2 The digital pump controller is set to “Mode 3” pulsing flow to create a gentle wave motion in the aquarium.

    • Size 80L Flow = P080 (80% power)
    • Size 130L & 200L Flow = P100 (100% power)
