In-The-Tank: Boogie, The Algae Grazer Snail

Transcript

Welcome to In The Tank, where a Living Oceans aquarium is set up in 90 minutes, then nature takes over.

Today, meet Boogie. Boogie is an algae grazer and part of the clean-up crew that helps maintain the reef.

As the aquarium begins to establish, one of the first visible changes is algae growth.

You may notice:

  • a light film on the glass
  • brown algae across the sand
  • growth appearing on the rocks

That's a normal part of the ecosystem developing.

That's where Boogie comes in.

Throughout the day, algae grazers:

  • clean the glass
  • graze the rocks
  • remove early algae growth
  • help support water quality

Working throughout the aquarium, they help keep the reef clean as the ecosystem matures.

It all starts with a simple setup. Then nature takes over.

Meet the rest of the reef in the next episode of In The Tank.
