Welcome to In The Tank, where a Living Oceans aquarium is set up in 90 minutes, then nature takes over.
Today, meet Henri. Henri is a peppermint shrimp and part of the clean-up crew helping maintain the reef. While many reef animals stay active during the day, peppermint shrimp often do their best work after lights out.
As the aquarium matures, natural buildup begins to appear throughout the ecosystem.
That may include:
- leftover food
- detritus
- algae buildup
- occasional nuisance pests
That's where Henri gets to work.
Throughout the night, peppermint shrimp help:
- clean hard-to-reach areas
- remove organic waste
- support the clean-up crew
- help maintain balance in the reef
They may spend much of the day hidden, but they play an important role in keeping the ecosystem healthy.
It all starts with a simple setup. Then nature takes over.
