Refilling Autofeeder

Transcript

Ever accidentally dropped more food into the tank than you meant to? It happens faster than you think, and a simple refill can quickly turn into unnecessary cleanup.

That’s why one of the most important rules is to never adjust or refill the auto feeder while it’s sitting over the aquarium.

You don’t want to accidentally spill food into the tank because excess food can affect the balance of the system.

Always remove the feeder first, just like we’ve shown, before doing any maintenance.

Slide off the feeding chamber and check the amount of food remaining.

We normally recommend filling enough food for around six weeks.

That’s usually about:

  • one third to one quarter of the chamber
  • enough to last for an extended period
  • less risk if it accidentally gets tipped

Even a small amount of food can last a couple of months because the fish are small and don’t require heavy feeding.

Make sure the feeder is programmed correctly so the food drops into the pump chamber and is distributed properly throughout the aquarium.

Another useful feature is how the light cable tucks neatly underneath the feeder.

Keep it clear of the feeding chamber so it doesn’t interfere with the feeder rotation.

When you remove the light during maintenance, you can simply let it hang in position.

That way:

  • the aquarium still receives light during maintenance
  • you avoid placing the light on the ground
  • you reduce the risk of damaging or breaking it

Small maintenance habits like these help keep the system running smoothly and make looking after your aquarium easier.
