Regular Aquarium Maintenance Task
Transcript
Good aquarium maintenance isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing the right things at the right time.
We recommend checking in on your aquarium regularly, but the main maintenance task is keeping the glass clean.
For weekly maintenance:
- use the magnet cleaner once or twice a week
- keep the glass clean and clear
- check that everything is looking normal
Over time, usually after about a month, you may notice a harder buildup starting to form on the glass.
The magnet cleaner won’t remove this because it’s designed for lighter cleaning.
That’s when it’s time to open the cabinet and grab your maintenance tools.
Included with your aquarium you’ll find:
- a scour tool
- a scraper with a long handle
- everything you need for routine maintenance
The scraper has a sharp blade designed to remove tougher buildup from the glass.
Use this around once a month to keep the aquarium looking its best.
Your maintenance routine should generally look like this:
Weekly:
- clean the glass with the magnet cleaner
- check on the aquarium regularly
Every four to six weeks:
- use the scraper for deeper glass cleaning
- top up the auto feeder
- refill the freshwater reservoir
The freshwater reservoir uses regular tap water and when filled to around 17 litres, it will normally last around four to six weeks.
Keep the water topped up, keep the food topped up, clean the glass, and check in regularly.
That’s usually all it takes to keep your Living Oceans aquarium looking great.
