Circulation Return Pump Removal | Install Settings

Transcript

Welcome to this training video on replacing the circulation pump and impeller in your Living Oceans aquarium.

Before starting any maintenance, turn off power to the aquarium.

Remove:

  • the light
  • the auto feeder
  • the mesh lid

This will give you access to the pump chamber.

Remove the return nozzle and carefully lift the pump out of the aquarium.

Keep a towel nearby, as water may drip from the pump during removal.

Disconnect the hose from the existing pump and connect it to the replacement pump.

Replacing the Impeller

To access the impeller:

  • unscrew the rear screen
  • remove the pump cover
  • carefully remove the impeller

Reinstalling the impeller can be tricky.

The groove on the impeller must align with the locating tab beneath the cable entry point.

Ensure the impeller sits completely flush within the housing before replacing the cover.

The cover should fit neatly and sit flush against the pump body.

Once aligned correctly:

  • replace the cover
  • reattach the rear screen

For additional guidance, refer to the Living Oceans support resources.

Reinstalling the Pump

Place the pump back into the pump chamber and push it fully into position.

Feed the 90-degree elbow through the hole in the aquarium and reinstall the return nozzle.

Route the circulation pump cable through to the cabinet.

Connect the pump cable to the pump controller by:

  • aligning the male and female connectors
  • pushing them together firmly
  • tightening the locking cap

Restore power to the aquarium.

Pump Settings

Check that the controller is configured to:

  • F100 (100% power)
  • M2 pulsing mode
Adjusting Water Flow

Position the return nozzle horizontally so it directs water toward the centre of the aquarium.

Caution:

  • Do not aim the nozzle upward.
  • Excessive surface agitation may create noise and salt creep.

The correct position should create a gentle ripple across the water surface.

Thanks for watching.
