Filtration Chamber Pump Removal | Install Settings

Transcript

Welcome to this training video on replacing the filter media in your Living Oceans aquarium.

As part of your regular maintenance, replace the filter media during each water change as a preventative measure.

You may also replace the media at other times if you need to reduce organic waste or phosphate levels.

To begin, remove the top filter basket from the filtration chamber.

Inside you will find:

  • a black carbon filter media bag
  • a white phosphate remover filter media bag

Remove both bags and replace them with fresh media.

Before placing the new media into the aquarium, thoroughly rinse both bags under tap water to remove any dust or fine particles.

Once rinsed:

  • place both media bags back into the top basket
  • return the basket to the filtration chamber

The remaining filter baskets contain bio-media that support beneficial bacteria.

Important:

  • Do not clean the bio-media baskets.
  • Do not replace the bio-media.

These beneficial bacteria are essential to the health of the ecosystem and help break down waste naturally.

The basket containing the carbon and phosphate remover media should always be placed on top.

If you notice bubbling or gurgling after reinstalling the basket:

  • gently jiggle the basket
  • push it firmly against the left side of the filter chamber

This will help release trapped air bubbles and restore normal water flow.

Thanks for watching.
