Living Blocks Reef Removal | Install and Assembly
Transcript
Welcome to this training video on assembling your Living Blocks reef and installing corals.
Living Oceans will provide specific instructions for assembling your Living Blocks reef structure.
The key components include:
- Living Blocks
- trellis
- column pieces
- long dowels
- short dowels
The reef is built around the trellis structure.
Assembly follows a simple process:
- use the long dowels to attach blocks to the trellis
- install the column pieces as the foundation layer
- use the short dowels to connect Living Blocks together
Assemble the reef according to the supplied reef layout instructions.
If a block becomes detached during transport or handling, simply reinsert the dowels into the block and reconnect the piece.
To attach a block:
- align the dowels with the dowel holes
- push firmly into position
- continue until you hear a click
Installing Corals
To install your corals, gently remove the reef from the aquarium and place it on a towel-covered work surface.
Open each coral bag by pulling the tab and removing the elastic band.
Using clean hands free from contaminants, remove the corals and select suitable positions on the reef.
For corals supplied with plugs:
- locate an available dowel hole
- insert the coral plug
- push until it clicks securely into place
Repeat this process for all plugged corals.
For larger corals or corals without plugs:
- position them directly on the reef
- secure them using aquarium-safe super glue if required
We recommend Gorilla Super Glue Gel or an equivalent aquarium-safe cyanoacrylate adhesive.
Apply a small amount of glue to the coral base and reef surface.
Press the coral firmly into position and hold until secure.
Returning the Reef to the Aquarium
Once all corals have been installed:
- carefully return the reef to the aquarium
- position it centrally
- push it down into the sand as far as practical
The trellis should be covered by the sand bed wherever possible.
Your Living Blocks reef is now assembled and ready to support your living ecosystem.
Thanks for watching.
