Autofeeder Installation | Food Filling | Feeder Programming
The automatic feeder makes it easy to provide your fish with a consistent amount of food every day, even when you're away from home. Every Living Oceans Aquarium includes a pre-configured feeding schedule designed to deliver one feed at 12:00 pm each day, helping maintain a healthy balance within your marine ecosystem.
Setting up the feeder only takes a few minutes. Once installed and programmed, it will automatically dispense the correct amount of food each day with very little ongoing maintenance.

Before You Begin
Your automatic feeder includes three main components:
- The LCD drive unit with the food barrel.
- Two AA batteries.
- The mounting bracket.
The food barrel is supplied with a dispensing hole already drilled, ready for use.
Installing the Batteries
Before programming the feeder:
- Separate the drive unit from the food barrel.
- Remove the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the two supplied batteries.
- Replace the battery cover and reconnect the food barrel.
Programming the Automatic Feeder
Before setting the feeding schedule, adjust the clock to your local time.
- Press and hold the Set button until the hour begins flashing.
- Set the current hour, then press Set to adjust the minutes.
- Press Set again to save the local time.
Next, program the feeding schedule.
- Set the first feeding time to 12:00 pm.
- Reduce the number of feeding cycles to one using the minus button.
- Continue pressing Set to disable the remaining feeding cycles.
Once complete, the feeder will dispense food automatically once each day at 12:00 pm.
Testing the Feeder
Before filling the food barrel, check that the feeder is operating correctly.
Press the Manual Feed button on the top of the unit and confirm that the barrel rotates through one complete feeding cycle.
Filling the Food Barrel
For the best results, use 1 mm high-quality marine pellets.
Only add enough food for approximately 4 to 6 weeks of feeding. Keeping smaller quantities in the feeder helps maintain freshness.
Once filled:
- Replace and secure the barrel cover.
- Gently shake the barrel to level the pellets.
- Replace old food every 4 weeks to ensure the highest quality nutrition.
Installing the Feeder
Once the feeder has been programmed and filled:
- Reattach the food barrel to the drive unit.
- Slide the mounting bracket into the grooves on the feeder, ensuring the retaining nut is on the right-hand side.
- Position the feeder over the pump chamber.
- Tighten the retaining nut by hand only until the feeder is secure.
Important Safety Information
Never open the food barrel while it is positioned over the aquarium. Accidentally spilling a large amount of food into the water can quickly affect water quality.
When securing the mounting bracket, tighten the retaining nut finger tight only. Over-tightening may crack the plastic bracket.
Routine Maintenance
The automatic feeder requires very little maintenance. To keep it operating reliably, we recommend:
- Checking the food level every few weeks.
- Replacing the food every 4 weeks to keep it fresh.
- Confirming the feeder remains programmed for one feed at 12:00 pm each day.
- Replacing the batteries when the LCD display begins to fade or the feeder no longer operates reliably.
