Aquarium Heater Install and Maintenance
The heater supplied with your Living Oceans Aquarium arrives factory preset to 24°C, the ideal temperature for maintaining a healthy marine ecosystem. There's no programming or adjustment required. Simply install it in the correct location and it will automatically maintain a stable water temperature for your fish, corals and beneficial bacteria.
The heater and thermometer are both housed inside the overflow chamber, where water continuously flows past them. This ensures accurate temperature monitoring and efficient heating throughout the aquarium.

Installing the Heater
Installing the heater only takes a few minutes.
- Place the heater inside the overflow chamber.
- Feed the power cord through the hole at the back of the cabinet.
- Plug the heater into the last power socket on the power board.
- Confirm that both the heater and thermometer are correctly positioned inside the overflow chamber.
Once connected, the heater will automatically maintain the factory preset temperature of 24°C.
Why Is the Heater Installed in the Overflow Chamber?
The overflow chamber provides constant water flow around the heater, allowing it to warm the aquarium evenly while keeping the equipment hidden from view.
Positioning the thermometer in the same chamber also ensures it measures the water temperature accurately as it circulates through the filtration system.
Important Safety Information
The heater must always remain submerged while it is operating.
Never remove the heater while it is still plugged in. If the heater is exposed to air while powered on, it can overheat very quickly. This may:
- Cause burns if touched.
- Permanently damage the heater.
- Reduce its operating lifespan.
If you need to remove the heater for maintenance or replacement, always switch off the aquarium and unplug the heater first. Allow it to cool completely before handling it.
Routine Maintenance
The heater requires very little maintenance, but a few simple checks will help keep it operating reliably.
We recommend:
- Periodically checking that the heater remains fully submerged in the overflow chamber.
- Confirming the thermometer displays a stable temperature of approximately 24°C.
- Inspecting the heater and power cord during routine maintenance for any signs of damage.
